Everyone is Welcome
We’ve seen the transformation many times – people who came to Christ full of doubt and uncertainty become, secure in the knowledge of their rightful place in God’s great kingdom. The change may start slowly – in a Bible Study class or choir participation, perhaps – but once it begins, it picks up speed. The good works, shared experiences, time spent in prayer – all bring us closer to our highest calling. Take the first step toward personal renewal – join us!
2. Perfect Saints to Spiritual Maturity

4. Establish Genuine, Authentic Christian Fellowship
The History of United Gospel Outreach Church
A native of Kinston, N.C., our beloved pastor, Dan Lawson has been an active and involved member of the community for over 50 years. Dan Lawson graduated from our local Kinston High School and then from North Carolina Central University. However, it was while Dan was attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1976, when God called Dan to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
At that time, Dan had not yet been born again and not understanding the call, he did not respond to the Lord’s directive. Lo and behold, just a few months later, Dan heard the voice of the Lord again, this time with an unmistakable message to repent, accept the gift of salvation and seek the Kingdom of Heaven.
So, on October 28, 1976 Dan Lawson repented of his sins, received Jesus Christ in his heart and began a new life as a born again Christian. Dan received Godly counsel, spiritual training and mentoring under Bishop Paul A. Thomas as a member of Victory Christian Church, (then Tabernacle of Victory Church) in Greenville, N.C., where in 1977 he met Belinda Kinsey as she converted to Christ and also joined Victory Christian. Belinda and Dan married in October that same year and served at Victory Christian Church Church for 9 years.
Dedicated To Serve
Dedicated and faithful servants while at Victory Christian Temple, Dan served as an Usher, Sunday School Teacher, Finance Manager, Bible School Teacher, Dean of the Bible School and an Assistant Pastor, while Belinda also worked on the Usher Board as well as the church choir. In 1980, Assistant Pastor Dan Lawson started the Victory Prison Ministry, which brought the Gospel of Jesus Christ to inmates all over Eastern North Carolina a dozen times every month.
The Birth of UGO
Then in the fall of 1987, while driving through “The Bottom,” one of the most notorious sections in Kinston, Dan & Belinda noticed an abandoned building that ironically, used to be a nightclub. Mr. and Mrs. Lawson rented the old nightspot with the thought bringing the healing power of the Gospel to the area, and to “reach out” to the community. A few months later, Pastor Dan and First Lady Belinda Lawson opened the doors to United Gospel Outreach.
God Gives the Increase
After the first week of Holy neighborhood crusades, the following Sunday United Gospel Outreach welcomed its first 7 church members. Over the next 17 years, the church continued to grow its membership as the members continued to grow in Christ; developing into a ministry that is United and firmly rooted and grounded in the Gospel, with a focus on Outreach. On October 24, 2004, Pastor Dan and Belinda Lawson, along with 80 church members, marched into the newly constructed, United Gospel Outreach Church, built from the ground up, by the Grace and to the Glory of God.
